Nearby you’ll find the age-old Castagno dei 100 Cavalli (Hundred Horses Chestnut, the oldest known chestnut three in the world, important destination for travellers from all over the world since the Grand Tour) the pleasant, small town of Sant’Alfio, whose church has a peculiar bell tower, the Rifugio Citelli (starting point for excursions on Mount Etna), and the Town museum of Vines and Wine.
From here it is easy to go on walks, trips, excursions, trekking, canyoning, skiing and more, on Etna. All will provide you with unforgettable views of the volcanology and its flora and fauna. A few kilometres away, you can visit the Etna Doc wine cellars, or the laboratories where honey and ass’s milk are produced, plus the other local products of the region. Our farm welcomes you with a particularly tasty Sicilian Cooking. Our menus are devised using basic ingredients that mainly come from Sicily and from our own Organic Farm, such as our Extra Virgin Olive Oil, selected on the Slow Food Guides. In this way we guarantee the ‘typicality’ and ‘quality’ of cooking based on traditional flavours, a respect for the seasons, and those culinary traditions linked to annual festivals. We present you two main menus, a Menu à-la-carte and an ‘All-inclusive’ one. This last one includes a choice of Sicilian hors d’oeuvre, three First Courses, a Main Course and our home-made Dessert. A selected Wine List with a vast choice of Etna and Sicilian wines is available to enable our guest to match a good wine with our food. At CASE PERROTTA it is always possible to choose a Vegetarian and a Gluten Free Menu, from the hors d’oeuvres to dessert, created in the same way as mentioned above.
Our accommodation is provided in large Rooms situated in two separate units close to each other: the old country house, which was the beginnings of the friary, and a large Grape Press. Today they contain ten large en suite rooms with Etna view and all modern comforts that travellers and families could need. Each room has a kettle with tea, chocolate and coffee, satellite TV, WiFi connection, minibar. All bathrooms are equipped with hairdryer, towels and courtesy kit including slippers. All our guests get a basket of fresh or dried seasonal fruits as a welcome gift. A tasty and abundant breakfast, not only Italian style, is served every day from 8,30 to 10,00 o’clock.
Whatever the weather, at CASE PERROTTA you can enjoy our wide open spaces, walk along the estate’s paths and observe our fruit production, learning about seasonal care and cultivation. Along the paths some old cellar tools and huge chestnut casks are on display to help the visitor understand some of the old wine-making methods, which have now been completely replaced by new knowledge and technology. A special room is used as a small market where you can buy our organic fruits, local crafts, beauty products, Sicilian teas and local wines.
